Here we Go...

So it has been a long while since I posted. Life has been CRAZY. Maybe it is the holidays, maybe it is school, maybe it is all my little projects I have kept going this whole time. In the last month I have made about 5 cakes, 50-60 scarves, 15 burp cloths, 5 bibs, 5 dresses, a gazillion shirts, and numerous other monogramming tasks. But it funded my little vacation so I'm not complaining...My friend Connie has a 'sock drawer' she keeps her money in...not me I plan for my next big purchase...
A Turkey Longall for Waylon.
A Snowman Longall for Waylon

I have made about a gazillion of these shirt in the last month and yes I have one picture to show for it. Just know I funded my trip to New York sewing so let us just say I have not seen much of my husband in the last two weeks getting all the Christmas orders ready.

A cake to welcome Kobe Beckley at the school. His mom Autumn teaches with me and keeps me laughing. Hopefully I'll post pics soon of the baby when he arrives just after Christmas!

Love Love Love

I absolutely love this dress. I had the applique and didn't know when to use it...I decided to put it on this bright blue corduroy I've had for years...I love the way it turned out. I hope the little girl I made it for look super sassy in it.

Christmas Fabric?

You decide. When I first saw this funky pink, red, and green fabric I thought of spring for sure...but the more I look at it the more I see using it for a fun Christmas dress. I don't know how fun my dresses are...I usually stick to about two styles...fun or not....anyway.

I got the fabric and needed to make a dress for my sister in laws friend....

with the leftover I made a skirt for a coworker's daughter and then

appliqued a letter on a onesie for the baby sister.

I think it is cute and will probably use it for some Christmas/spring dresses.

Peace, Bug, and A baby

Cakes that is...

In about 24 hours I turned out three cakes. I was literally up to my elbows in powdered sugar. The Lady Bug cake was made first. It was for Kiera Maxey for her first birthday.

The Peace Sign Cake came next for my little cousin Merilese. It was to feed about 10 crazed preteens.

Next on the list was a baby shower cake for Hadley Hope Cayson who will be arriving in a couple of weeks.

I've made about three cakes since then but I have forgotten to take pictures of any of them...so maybe next time.

Girly Girls

I've been very delinquent on my posting...for that I am sorry. In the sweat shop I have been super productive. Here are some girly things I have made lately.

50 and Thrifty

I had been asked to do a cake a while back for Coach Nutt's wife when she turned 50. Their daughters had come up with a cute saying and I put it on the cake for them.

My friend and coworker Gaye Howard requested a fiftieth birthday cake for this past weekend and I reused the saying. I thought it turned out super cute.

Pink and Green

Lately I noticed that I have been sewing a lot of pink and green items.

Here is a bib I made. I found a pattern online and decided to give it a try. I have some more ready to embroidery/applique and will post when they are finished.
Here is a dress I made for my friend, Amber, to give to her little cousin.

I have been making a lot of baby dresses lately for showers and this a green and white gingham dress with pink monogram for one of those showers.

This is a Christmas dress I made last week. I had been thinking about using this green fabric for a while and found the pink corduroy in my fabric closet so I put them together and loved it. I posted them on facebook and had two orders the next day. I'll post the others I have made later.

First Refashion

I have been reading a lot about refashioning clothing. My mom has told me many a story about my great grandmother refashioning clothing to save on fabric, but I don't think I'm ready for it yet.

This was my first attempt at "refashioning"

I took a dress made for a friend last year and added a ruffle to the bottom so it could be worn with tights as a top this year.

Another friend recycled some of her older daughters' clothing for her third child. So I put her name on some outfits...this is the only one I took a picture of...

Busy Bee

I have had a few projects lately.
I embroidered towels for my mom.

A coworker wanted some burp pads made for a shower.

My friend, Lisa, had brought me some great fabric she wanted a dress made from.

Pillowcase Dress Model

This is Madi Ruth Collums modeling the pillowcase dress her mom had me make for her. Isn't she the cutest baby?

Here Lately

I have managed to get some sewing time in since school started.

I made a flannel snowflake dress for Marion Kate Maffett.

I made a Corduroy Christmas Dress for Ellie.

I made a Halloween Pillowcase dress for Haylee's little girl.

And I ventured out and made a mat cover for Allie Beckley. Complete with attached blanket, monogrammed for nap time.

Sewing This Morning

With school starting back today...I felt nerves at about 5:30 this morning...so what was I to do? Sew of course. I monogrammed a dress for Christmas and sewed up this one for Miss Ellie. At least someone benefits from my nervousness...right? Let me know if you need anything for the fall I can sew it when I get up at the crack of dawn.

Promised Pictures

I stated before that I have been in the sewing room as of late, but I haven't posted any pictures....well, since it is the night before school starts and like a little kid, I can't sleep-here are some things I have been working on.

I have monogrammed two backpacks for sweet second graders I know.

I have made one pair of Halloween pants size 1 (12 mo)-let me know if you want them

1 pair of Christmas pants size 1 (12 mo)-let me know if you want them

1 adult apron for a teaching friend who has decided she will now where and apron while teaching-

I have made 16 monogrammed supply bags-one for each of my students...yes I know sounds crazy but this way they won't fight over crayons, the loss of pencil bag/boxes, or have to feel left out...I like the even playing field...and they can be hung up in their locker so I don't have to watch them dig in those desks everyday!

I have also monogrammed 2 aprons for my good friend Ashley- She has a canvas business with her cousin, Maggie, and they wanted paint aprons.

Yes, I have been busy. Yes, I have greatly neglected my classroom and will spend the next three days making it parent/child ready. I also have been working on some other things for my students...stay tuned.

Back at It

So I have full intentions of being back in my sewing room today. I had a fun day yesterday picture smocking, well learning how to picture smock. It is tedious and you have to pay close attention to what you are doing...so I may not be great at it...But I have a few items to get finished before school starts back a couple of aprons...some bags and just some monogramming...

Yankee Doodle Ellie

Remember the outfit I made for Ellie for the Fourth of July. Well, I snagged this picture off of her mom's facebook page. Three observations from this picture:

1: she looks just like my brother/her dad in this picture

2: mom was right about this fabric...i could have picked out something cuter
3: I need to get started on her some outfits for the winter.
Happy Tuesday Friends!

Out of Sight, Out of Mind

Well I have been out of town so I haven't even thought about sewing anything. Today I will be monogramming some things for my class and will be making a few items for friends. I'll post later some pictures. Happy FRIDAY everyone.

Fruit Salad

Hope you don't think I am talking about a recipe.... Yesterday I headed to Tupelo bright and early to help out my friend Connie Buse. She has been keeping her grandbabies this week and I must say neither one of them has met a stranger. I walked in to find Sims at the table eating breakfast and playing with stickers. She started telling me about her mommy having a baby and if it was girl she is gonna be called Peachy and for a boy Fruit Salad. I laughed and laughed. Then we played games and the rules were made up by Sims as we went. I know Connie has enjoyed having them.
